Stepping Stones
Written by Paul Williams and Jimmy Martin

Memories of yesterday,
Are stepping stones that pave the way,
To heartaches of a love I can't forget,
I've found this out to be so true,
For all my memories of you,
Have marked my lonely pathway of regret.

Stepping stones,
They're only stepping stones,
I wish I'd never helped to pave the way,
Stepping stones,
Your lies were stepping stones,
That's why my heart is broke today.

Moments sad and moments sweet,
Are only stepping stones that meet,
At the end of a pathway of heartbreak,
Misery and bitter tears,
Endless night that's filled with fears,
Are stepping stones that show me my mistake.
